Chocolate Angel Pie

- 2 each egg white shopping list
- 1/8 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
- 1/2 cup pecans, chopped fine shopping list
- 4 ounces Sweet German chocolate (1 square or 1 bar) shopping list
- 3 tablespoons water shopping list
- 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
- 1 cup whipping cream (or 1 envelope of Dream Whip) shopping list
How to make it
- MERINGUE SHELL
- Beat egg whites with salt and cream of tartar until foamy. Add sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating after each addition.
- Continue beating until the mixture makes very stiff peaks.
- Fold in vanilla and nuts. Spoon into lightly greased pie pan & work up the sides. Bake in oven at 300 degrees for 50-55 minutes. Set aside to cool.
- CHOCOLATE CREAM MIXTURE
- Stir chocolate in water over low heat until melted. Cool until thickened. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
- Whip cream (or make Dream Whip) and fold in chocolate mixture. Pile into pie shell and chill in refrigerator for two hours.
