Herbed Beef Stew

- 6 Tbls all purpose flour, divided shopping list
- 1 ts paprike shopping list
- 1/4 ts pepper shopping list
- 1 1/2 lbs beef stew cut into 1 inch pieces shopping list
- 1 Tbls canola oil shopping list
- 2 Cups water shopping list
- 3 Tbls tomato paste shopping list
- 2 ts beef bouillon granules shopping list
- 2 ts dried basil, divided shopping list
- 2 ts dried thyme, divided shopping list
- 1 ts garlic powder, divided shopping list
- 2 bay leaves shopping list
- 3 cups diced potatoes shopping list
- 3 cups quartered peeled small onions shopping list
- 2 cups sliced carrots shopping list
- 2 Tbls minced fresh parsley shopping list
- 1/4 ts salt shopping list
- 1/4 cup water shopping list
How to make it
- Combine 4 Tbls flour, paprika and pepper into a plastic bag.
- Add beef a few pieces at a time and shake to coat.
- In a dutch oven brown beef in oil over medium heat.
- Add the water, tomato paste, bouillon, 1 1/2 ts basil, 3/4 ts thyme, 3/4 ts garlic powder and the bay leaves.
- Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours till meat almost tender.
- Add the potatoes, onions and carrots.
- Cover and simmer 30 minutes longer or until the meat and vegetables are tender.
- Discard the bay leaves.
- In a small bowl combine the parsley, salt and remaining flour, basil, thyme and garlic powder.
- Add cold water to this mixture and stir till smooth.
- Stir this mixture into the stew.
- Bring stew to a boil and stir and cook for 2 more minutes
