Poppy Seed Roasted Garlic Burger Recipe
These are incredible. I got this recipe from an estate sale in 1996. Have made this several time including neighborhood cookouts, everybody loves these, hope you do too.

Ingredients
  • 2 pounds ground chuck
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup roasted garlic paste (recipe below)
  • 4 poppy seed buns

Directions
  1. Preheat grill.
  2. In a bowl mix meat, salt, pepper and garlic paste.
  3. Form 4 burgers.
  4. Cook burgers over a hot fire until desired temperature is reached.
  5. Toast the buns then put a patty on each one and top with your favorite condiments.
  6. Roasted Garlic Paste:
  7. 1 pound whole garlic heads
  8. 1/2 cup pure olive oil
  9. 1 teaspoon sea salt
  10. 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  11. Preheat oven to 375.
  12. Peel the outermost layers of skin off the heads of garlic then cut off the top 1/3 of heads to open cloves.
  13. Put the heads cut-sides up in a small baking dish and pour the olive oil over them then season with salt and pepper.
  14. Cover tightly and place in the oven and roast 45 minutes.
  15. Uncover and return to oven until cloves begin to pop out of their skins then allow to cool.
  16. When cool enough to handle squeeze garlic into bowl then add oil from baking dish.
  17. Mix well until a paste forms.

Sounds like a nice twist on the standard burger. I love those poppy seed buns, but they are hard to find. Good post.
