Polish Dinner Recipe

Polish Dinner Recipe
A classic dinner of polish stereotypes that my father would make in a pinch. Goes good with bread 'n butter.

Ingredients
  • 2lbs. sauerkraut, it doesn't matter if it's canned or in a bag. Athough bagged sauerkraut is the freshest.
  • 1lb. Polish Kielbasa sausage cut into disks.
  • 15-20 small regular cheese pirogies (frozen works great)
  • 2 large baking potatoes, cut into large chunks.
  • Salt, pepper, garlic and seasoned salt to taste.

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to about 350 degrees,
  2. Throw everything into a large casserole dish or dutch oven.
  3. Cover with lid or foil and bake until the potatoes are soft and the pirogies are cooked thoroughly, approx. 45 minutes to an hour and a half.
  4. Don't worry about adding any water. The liquid from the sauerkraut and pirogies should suffice.
  5. Remove from oven.
  6. Enjoy!

This is something I would love!

Wow, sounds great, never had anything like it. Thanks for sharing. Mare

Sounds so delicious. I love the way the sausage and kraut taste when together in a recipe.
