How to make it

  • Ground shallots, garlic, galangale and ginger.
  • Heat pan with oil.
  • Add ground ingredients, cinnamon, cardamom, star anise and lemon grass.
  • Fry until fragrant.
  • Add chili paste and curry powder, and mix well.
  • When mixture becomes thick add beef and 1/2 cups of beef stock.
  • Mix well the mixture and beef.
  • Add tomato puree, coconut milk and the remaining beef stock.
  • Simmer for 1 hour or until beef is tender.
  • Add salt and sugar to taste and cook until gravy is thick.
  • Serve with rice or bread.
