APPLESAUCE SPICE COOKIES DATED 1966 This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Lowery Estate in Arlington, Texas in 1984. Tried and true. Ingredients
- 1 cup raisins shopping list
- 1 cup canned applesauce shopping list
- 1 cup brown sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup shortening shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 2 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon shopping list
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves shopping list
- 1 cup chopped nuts shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Mix raisins with applesauce then set aside.
- Beat sugar and shortening then add egg and beat until fluffy.
- Stir in applesauce raisin mixture.
- Sift dry ingredients together then add to wet mixture and stir in nuts.
- Drop by teaspoonfuls on cookie sheet. Then bake 15 minutes.
