Homemade Tomato Sauce Recipe

Homemade Tomato Sauce Recipe
This is a quick sauce I came up with to use with the Spaghetti Casserole recipe I posted. I am not a fan of jarred sauces so I always make some kind of variation of my own sauce...this is one of those variations.

Ingredients
  • 1 28 oz can Crushed Tomatoes
  • 1/2 Sweet Onion (finely minced)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (grated on Microplane)
  • 1/8 C Water
  • 2 T Canola or Olive Oil
  • 2 T Hot Giardiniera Relish
  • Lawry's Garlic Salt
  • Pepper

Directions
  1. Mince onions, set aside.
  2. In medium sauce pot, heat oil over medium heat and add onions to gently saute. Once onions are becoming translucent, add garlic and garlic salt and pepper to taste and cook for about 30 -60 seconds more, so the garlic doesn't burn.
  3. Pour in tomatoes, water and giardiniera.
  4. Turn to low and let simmer about 15 minutes longer for the flavors to merry.
  5. Use on pasta or as I do in the Spaghetti Casserole.
  6. Enjoy!
