Hearty Beef Pie Recipe
This is very comforting, very tasty and packed full of wonderful flavors. I'm not sure where I got this recipe but I have had it and have been making this for years. It never gets old. Enjoy

Ingredients
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped bell peppers
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon style mustard
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Crust:
  • 2 sticks butter melted
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • Parsley for garnish

Directions
  1. In a large skillet combine beef, onion, celery and bell pepper.
  2. Over medium heat cook stirring until vegetables are soft and meat is no longer pink.
  3. Sprinkle in flour then stir in broth, mustard and lemon juice.
  4. Bring mixture to a boil then cook until thickened then season with salt and pepper.
  5. For the crust combine the flours and salt then stir in butter until mixture is crumbly.
  6. Preheat oven to 425 then press dough into bottom and up sides of rectangular baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle cheese over the bottom of the crust then spoon meat mixture evenly over cheese.
  8. Bake pie 30 minutes then transfer to dish and sprinkle with parsley.
  9. Serve warm.
