a rich and indulgent dessert which is quick and easy to make.

Ingredients
  • 3 tbsp red cherry jam
  • 8 trifle sponges
  • 425g red or black cherries in syrup
  • 100g dark chocolate
  • 400g custard
  • 150ml 1/2 pt double cream
  • 1 chocolate flake

Directions
  1. spread the jam over 4 of the trifle sponges.
  2. Place the remaining 4 sponges on top of the 4 covered in jam and cut into cubes before diviiding between 4 glasses.
  3. Drain the cherries and pour the syrup over the sponges.
  4. Scatter the cherries over the sponges saving a few for decoration.
  5. melt the chocolate and whisk into the custard. Divide the mixture between the 4 glasses.
  6. whip the double cream until it forms soft peaks and drop spoonfuls over the custard.
  7. Decorate with the remaining cherries and the flake.
