A fruit salad made with pasta in a sweet sauce. One can also used cooked rice to replace the orzo.

Ingredients
  • 1, lb orzo cooked
  • 2, #2 cans of pineapple tidbits drained and reserved juice
  • 2 small cans mandarin oranges drained and reserved juice
  • 1 jar of marachino cherries, sliced, drained and reserved juice
  • 1 large container of whipped topping
  • Sauce:
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 Tbs flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • reserved Liquid from the drained fruit

Directions
  1. Combine sauce ingredients and cook and stir constantly over medium heated till thickened..
  2. Cool.
  3. Mix with the cooked orzo.
  4. Spread mixture into an oblong pan and chill well.
  5. When well chilled fold in drained fruit and cool whip
