How to make it

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped onions, tomato sauce, catsup, water, sugar, oregano, salt, garlic salt, and red pepper. On the range top, bring to boiling, reduce heat.
  • Simmer, covered, about 20 minutes, or until the onions are just tender.
  • Grill the hotdogs on an uncovered grill, directly over medium-hot coals, for 3-5 minutes.
  • Turn frequently
  • Serve hot dogs on buns with the relish.
  • Store the leftover relish, in a tightly covered container, in the refrigerator for up to two weeks
