Fresh Pear Pandowdy

- 4 firm ripe pears (about 2 lbs ) shopping list
- 1/2 tsp each: cinnamon, nutmeg shopping list
- 1/4 tsp ginger shopping list
- 1/2 cup maple syrup shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk baking mix shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine melted shopping list
- 1/2 cup milk shopping list
- 1 large egg, fork beaten shopping list
- whipped cream and thin orange peel strips for garnish shopping list
How to make it
- Peel, core and slece pears into 1/2 inch slices
- Toss pears with the spices.
- Place pears into a welluttered 8 inch cake pan
- Pour maple syrup over.
- Cover with foil and bake in a 350F oven for 15 minutes
- Combine remaining ingedients to make a batter.
- Pour over pears and bake 30 minutes longer uncovered.
- Cool slightly and invert cake onto serving platter to unmold.
- Serve warm with whipped cream and strands of orange peel
