How to make it

  • first off wash the chicken then salt and pepper the skin and rub with vegetable oil set aside.
  • prep the veg eg. (wash, peel,open tins or whatever lol)
  • preheat the oven to gas mark 4
  • put the chicken on an oven tray and place in the oven and let it cook checking to baste the skin now and again
  • then after about an hour and a half of the chickens cooking time put the potatoes in a saucepan of water bring to the boil then simmer until cooked
  • do the same for the other veg but they can all go in one sauce pan
  • add a swirl of salt to both saucepans when they get to boiling point
  • once the veg is cooked wich should be in about 15-20 minutes you can lower the heat down until the chicken is cooked
  • to check weather the chicken is cooked (ussually about 2 hours)push a knife through the breast of the chicken and see if the juices run clear if there is blood in them its not cooked also check the meat by the legs for blood
  • once all is cooked make the gravy follow the packet mix instructions its time to dish up,first drain off the potatoes then mash them with a fork or a masher add butter and some single cream then mash more until creamy and lump free
  • drain the othe veg and serve all on the plates then add the mash
  • serve the chicken making sure everyone gets some crispy skin(the best bit)
  • then pour over the gravy
  • enjoy.
