An easy to make boiled custard.

Ingredients
  • 1 quart milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions
  1. Scald milk in heavy pan - do not boil.
  2. Thoroughly beat eggs, adding salt and sugar.
  3. Beat a little of the hot milk into the egg mixture, stirring constantly.
  4. Slowly pour egg mixture into hot milk, stirring well to prevent curdling of the egg mixture.
  5. Slowly bring just to a boil until mixture coats a wooden spoon.
  6. Remove from heat and beat until cool.
  7. Add vanilla ,stir and then chill well.
