Orange Sherbet Salad Dessert Recipe
A cool refreshing end to your meal on a hot summer day. Adapted from a 1975 Sunset salad book.

Ingredients
  • 2 3-ounce or 1 6-ounce pkg orange flavor gelatin
  • 1 1/2 cups boiling water
  • 2 11 ounce cans mandarin oranges
  • 1 1/2 cups orange sherbet
  • 2 bananas

Directions
  1. Drain mandarin oranges and reserve the juice. Chill oranges in a bowl in the refrigerator until you need them.
  2. Measure 1 cup of the reserved juice. (If you don't have 1 cup, add enough water to make a cup)
  3. Dissolve gelatin in the boiling water.
  4. Add the reserved liquid to this mixture.
  5. Now stir in the sherbet until it dissolves.
  6. Refrigerate until partially set.
  7. Peel and slice your bananas.
  8. Add bananas and oranges to the thickened gelatin.
  9. Pour into a 6-cup mold.
  10. Chill until set.
