CANDY CANE COOKIES Recipe
I make these every year at Christmas time. They are very tasty and look so pretty.

Ingredients
  • 1 basic sugar cookie recipe
  • 2 Tbs. all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. peppermint extract
  • 1/2 tsp. red food coloring

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°
  2. In a large mixing bowl beat into cookie dough extra flour and extract until smooth.
  3. Divide dough in half; mix food coloring into one portion.
  4. Shape 1 teaspoon of white dough into a 6 inch rope.
  5. Shape 1 teaspoon of red dough into a 6 inch rope.
  6. Place ropes side by side; press together lightly and twist.
  7. Place on an ungreased baking sheet; curve one end of cookie to form handle of cane.
  8. Repeat with remaining dough, placing cookies 2 inches apart on baking sheets.
  9. Bake at for 8 to 10 minutes or until set.
  10. Cool for 2 minutes before carefully removing to wire racks.
