Classic Banana Cream Pie

- 2 eggs shopping list
- 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar shopping list
- 1/4 cup flour shopping list
- 2 cups milk shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine shopping list
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract shopping list
- 5 firm, medium bananas shopping list
- 1 baked 9-inch pie shell shopping list
- 1 cup whipping cream shopping list
How to make it
- In heavy saucepan, beat eggs, 1/2 cup sugar and flour until pale lemon color. Gradually beat milk into egg mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat until sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat. Stir in butter and vanilla until blended. Place plastic wrap directly on surface of filling to cover. Cool.
- To assemble pie, slice bananas and fold into filling; spoon into pastry shell. Cover with plastic wrap and chill until ready to serve. Remove plastic wrap, whip cream with remaining 2 tablespoon of sugar until soft peaks form. Spread on top of pie. Enjoy!
