Almost Traditional Lasagna Recipe
This is my version of a recipe I found in Taste of Home magazine. Like traditional lasagna,it takes a long time to make but it's worth the effort.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound pork sausage
  • 2 16oz jars pasta sauce-your favorite brand(I use Prego)
  • 3 cloves garlic-minced
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 9 lasagna noodles-cooked and drained
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley(or 3 tablespoons fresh)
  • 1 24oz tub cottage cheese
  • 1 8oz carton ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesean cheese
  • 6 slice provolone cheese
  • 4 cups grated mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese

Directions
  1. In a large skillet,brown ground beef and sausage over medium heat until no longer pink. Drain.
  2. Place meat in a crock pot/slow cooker 4 quarts or larger.
  3. Add pasta sauce,garlic, and red pepper. Stir to combine.
  4. Cover and cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 6 hours.
  5. In a large mixing bowl,combine eggs,parsley,cottage cheese,ricotta,and parmesean. In a separate bowl,combine mozzarella and cheddar cheeses.
  6. Spread 1 cup of meat sauce onto the bottom of an ungreased 9" x 13" x 2" baking dish or a lasagna pan.
  7. Layer with 3 noodles,provolone cheese, 2 cups cottage cheese mixture,and 1 1/2 cups mozzarella mixture
  8. Continue layering with 3 noodles,2 cups meat sauce,.remaining cottage cheese mixture,1 1/2 cups mozzarella mixture.
  9. Top with remaining 3 noodles,remaining meat sauce,and remaining mozzarella cheese mixture. Dish will be full and heavy.
  10. Cover with foil. Place dish onto larger cookie sheet if desired to catch any runoff while baking.
  11. Bake covered at 375 degrees for 1 hour. Remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes.
  12. Let lasagna stand for 15 minutes before cutting.
  13. Serve with salad and garlic bread.

  15. This recipe works with your favorite homemade sauce or store-bought sauce from a jar.

This sounds amazing I just wish there was a bit more cheese LMAO... just teasing. I can't wait to try YUM!


Yes I like this, but please!! can we use a tomato sauce, so easy, chop fine 1 lge onion, crush 3-4 clove garlic cook without colour in olive oil, add bay leaf and chop fresh oregano, 1 tin chopped tomato, 2 tbs tomato puree, salt & pepper, 10-15 mins this is ready for use, to use alone cook 35-40 mins v,slow, finish with fresh basil and parsley.
