How to make it

  • Saute onion in 1 tablespoon butter until soft but not brown.
  • Remove from heat and mix next 4 ingredients and 3/4 teaspoon salt.
  • Make mashed potatoes with hot cooked potatoes, remaining butter , salt , pepper and hot milk.
  • Beat until fluffy.
  • Put meat mixture in baking dish.
  • Top with mashed potatoes
  • Score potatoes to make a pattern; brush with beaten egg.
  • Bake in preheated over 424 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
