This is an old recipe I found in my recipe box. It is very rich so small servings are in order

Ingredients
  • Crust:
  • 1/2 cup softened margarine or butter
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 1c all purpose flour (unsifted)
  • Custard:
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 #2 can cherries, drained

Directions
  1. Crust:
  2. Cut margarine/butter into flour until coarse. Add egg yolk and sugar. Blend until dough forms a soft ball. Press into small baking pan. Cover with custard.
  3. Custard:
  4. Beat eggs, sugar, and vanilla; gently blend in cherries. Pour into dough lined pan. Bake 325 degrees for 1 hour or until set.

Are you using sweet canned cherries... pie filling type canned cherried??

what kind?? hummm


Scuttlebut8 - I used canned red cherries - not cherry pie filling. I suppose you could use the canned Bing cherries, but I have never tried them.
