Cherry Kuchen Recipe

Ingredients

Crust:

1/2 cup softened margarine or butter

1 egg yolk

1/4 tsp sugar

1c all purpose flour (unsifted)

Custard:

3 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

1 cup sugar

1 #2 can cherries, drained

Directions

Crust:

Cut margarine/butter into flour until coarse. Add egg yolk and sugar. Blend until dough forms a soft ball. Press into small baking pan. Cover with custard.

Custard:

Beat eggs, sugar, and vanilla; gently blend in cherries. Pour into dough lined pan. Bake 325 degrees for 1 hour or until set.

Scuttlebut8 - I used canned red cherries - not cherry pie filling. I suppose you could use the canned Bing cherries, but I have never tried them.
