American Chili

- 2# ground beef shopping list
- One 29-ounce can tomato sauce shopping list
- One 29-ounce can kidney bans (with liquid) shopping list
- One 29-ounce can pinto beans (with liquid) shopping list
- 1 cup diced onion (medium size) shopping list
- 1/2cup diced green chili (canned-found in Mexican section) shopping list
- ¼ cup diced celery (1stalk) shopping list
- 3 medium tomatoes, chopped (I use plum) shopping list
- 2 tsp (teaspoon) cumin powder shopping list
- 3 TBSP (tablespoon) chili powder shopping list
- 1 ½ tsp black pepper shopping list
- 2 tsp salt shopping list
- 2 cups water shopping list
How to make it
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat; drain off the fat. Using a fork, crumble the cooked beef into pea-size pieces.
- In a large pot, combine the beef plus all the remaining ingredients, and bring to a simmer over
- low heat. Cook, stirring every 15 minutes, for 2-3 hours.
- Can be frozen for several months. Garnish with shredded cheese or onions.
