American Chili Recipe
American chili very similar to that from your local Wendy's. Wonderful with diced onions, cheese and crackers!

Ingredients
  • 2# ground beef
  • One 29-ounce can tomato sauce
  • One 29-ounce can kidney bans (with liquid)
  • One 29-ounce can pinto beans (with liquid)
  • 1 cup diced onion (medium size)
  • 1/2cup diced green chili (canned-found in Mexican section)
  • ¼ cup diced celery (1stalk)
  • 3 medium tomatoes, chopped (I use plum)
  • 2 tsp (teaspoon) cumin powder
  • 3 TBSP (tablespoon) chili powder
  • 1 ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups water

Directions
  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat; drain off the fat. Using a fork, crumble the cooked beef into pea-size pieces.
  2. In a large pot, combine the beef plus all the remaining ingredients, and bring to a simmer over
  3. low heat. Cook, stirring every 15 minutes, for 2-3 hours.
  4. Can be frozen for several months. Garnish with shredded cheese or onions.
