Elbow-licker Fish Sandwich Recipe
When I sold fish at a grocery store, this was my most commented-on recipe. If you don't have the time or the inclination to make the sauce, try your favourite bottled Caesar dressing, and experience a whole new taste!

Ingredients
  • 4 fresh Tilapia fillets, or mild, firm fish of your choice
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • 1 Tbs Cooking Oil
  • 1/2 c Mayo
  • 1/2 c Sour Cream
  • 1 rounded tsp Lemon Zest
  • 1-2 cloves Garlic, grated
  • 1 tsp fresh Dill Weed, snipped fine**
  • 1/4 tsp White Sugar
  • 4 Crusty Rolls,split and toasted
  • 1 c grated Monterey Jack Cheese(or try 4 slices of Provolone!)
  • **or 1 Tbs Dill Pickle, chopped finely

Directions
  1. Salt and pepper both sides of the fish and fry in the oil for approx. 3 minutes on each side or just until fish starts to flake(DO NOT over-cook!)
  2. Mix next 6 ingreds. together and slather onto bun bottoms.
  3. Top each with cooked fish.
  4. Divide cheese among fillets.
  5. Place under the broiler just to melt the cheese.
  6. Place bun lids on top.
  7. Serve up with LOTS of napkins and enjoy!

Oh yeah!!!! My daughter's boyfriend is a fifth generation fisherman and he does the mayo and cheese combo for us and it is delish. I can see this as a "BUMPED up a Notch" version. YUMMY. Great post.
