Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 dash white pepper
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese

Directions
  1. melt butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat
  2. add flour, salt and pepper, stirring until smooth. cook 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  3. Gradually add milk, cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  4. Add cheese; stir until cheese melts.
