How to make it

  • Fry bacon until grease is rendered, then crumble when cooled.
  • Put bacon and shredded cheese into the pie crust, add mushrooms.
  • Beat eggs and milk together along with the salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  • Pour the custard into the crust over the cheese, bacon and mushrooms.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 40 mins with a baking pan on rack beneath it to catch any spillage.
  • Serve immediately for best results, but I also like it as a leftover if there is any leftover.

    This is a great recipe! It can be easily modified. I make my own pate brisee as a crust.
