pea and ham soup

- 1 packet yellow split peas shopping list
- 1 bacon hock shopping list
- 1.5 liters of water shopping list
- 2-3 carrots shopping list
- 1 onion shopping list
- bay leaf shopping list
How to make it
- slice carrots and onion
- rinse the yellow split peas
- place all ingredients into a large pot
- bring to the boil stirring occasionally so the peas don't stick to pot
- then turn down heat to simmer
- let simmer for a couple of hours
- stir occasionally
- take hock out and cut the meat into small pieces
- place pieces back in pot and stir
- let simmer for about 10 minuets
- then server
- or you can let it cool down and put in fridge and reheat later
