Ingredients
  • 1 pound pink beans
  • 3 slices bacon
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1/2 teas pepper
  • 1/2 teas salt
  • 1 pound ground beef or linguica
  • season salt
  • 2 16 oz stewed tomatoes
  • water

Directions
  1. clean beans
  2. in a soup pot add beans, onion, bacon,bay leaf, garlic, and pepper
  3. cover with water, the more water the soupier the beans
  4. cook on a low simmer2-3 hours, do not add salt until the beans are done. salt makes the skin of the bean tough
  5. in a fry pan, brown ground beef or linguica (or both really good) season with season saltpepper and salt to taste
  6. add browned and drained meat, salt, and stewed tomatoesto pot
  7. if you let the water cook out of pot do not add cold water add hot water to the pan. cold water will turn the beans black.Make sure the burner is not to high a low simmer is the best way to cook beans.don't try to rush them
  8. remove bay leaf
