Children love eating cookies so why not get them into the kitchen to make them. This cookie recipe is excellent for other occasions as well. Hanukkah Cookies (Dairy or Parve) from Giora Shimoni

Ingredients
  • 1 cup (200 grams) butter or pareve margarine, room temperature
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. orange juice
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • I like to make a light blue tinted frosting to ice the cookies with.

Directions
  1. Mix ingredients margarine and sugar until smooth.
  2. Add in eggs, juice and vanilla.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix flour with baking powder.
  4. Add flour mixture to dough and mix until just blended.
  5. Wrap the dough in wax paper and chill for at least an hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  7. Grease cookie sheets.
  8. Flour surface and rolling pin.
  9. Roll out dough until 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
  10. Add flour if the dough is sticky.
  11. Cut dough with Hanukkah cookie cutters.
  12. Place Hanukkah-shaped cookies on the greased cookie sheet.
  13. Bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 6-8 minutes or until lightly browned.
