Wild Grits

- 1 cup white hominy grits shopping list
- 5 cups boiling water shopping list
- 1-1/2 teaspoons salt shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 1 cup parmesan cheese freshly grated shopping list
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper shopping list
- 1 egg beaten shopping list
- 1 tablespoon milk shopping list
- 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs shopping list
- 2 tablespoons butter shopping list
- 1 teaspoon instant onion flakes shopping list
How to make it
- Add grits to boiling salted water.
- Reduce heat and simmer 25 minutes stirring occasionally.
- Cool for 30 minutes.
- Add baking powder, 3/4-cup cheese, onion and pepper.
- Mix well.
- Combine egg and milk then add to cooked grits.
- Pour mixture into well-greased baking dish.
- Top with breadcrumbs and remaining cheese.
- Dot with butter.
- Bake in preheated 350 oven for 25 minutes.
