Very Good Sausage Marinara Sauce Recipe
VERY GOOD SAUSAGE MARINARA SAUCE This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Pryor Estate in Grapevine, Texas in 1996.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground sausage
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 6 cloves garlic peeled and minced
  • 1/2 pound mushrooms
  • 6 cans tomato sauce
  • 1 bottle red wine
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seed crushed
  • 2 teaspoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Directions
  1. In a large heavy pot brown the meat in olive oil over medium high fire.
  2. Add minced garlic and mushrooms cooking until mushrooms have fully given up their liquid.
  3. Turn fire down to low and add remaining ingredients.
  4. Let simmer very slowly for 8 hours stirring occasionally to avoid sticking.
