Hearty Shepherds Pie Recipe
An easy traditional dinner to satisfy even the biggest appetites

Ingredients
  • 5-6 Potatoes (Russet, Yukon Gold or Red)
  • 1 lb. Ground Beef
  • 1 can of Corn
  • 1/2 Onion Diced
  • 2 cups of Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 package of bacon pieces
  • 1 cup of Milk
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. Butter
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Directions
  1. Clean and peel most of the skin from the potatoes, cut into quarters
  2. Place in roomy pot and add cold water over potatoes so they have about a 1/2 inch covering them
  3. Bring to a boil, cover and reduce heat to med-high for about 30 minutes or until they are soft and slide easily off a fork
  4. Drain and put back into pot on low heat
  5. Add Milk, butter and salt and pepper to taste
  6. Mash potatoes or use electric mixer until smooth
  7. Pre-heat oven to 350
  8. Fry the ground beef
  9. When cooked, drain fat
  10. Add can of Corn and diced up onion
  11. Cook on med-high heat for about 4 minutes, stirring frequently
  12. Line the bottom of a baking dish with beef mixture
  13. Next add layer of potatoes
  14. Sprinkle with Bacon pieces
  15. Bake for 5 minutes in a pre-heated oven at 350
  16. Cover with Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  17. Bake for an additional 3 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly
