- 4 cups of mozzarella cheese shopping list
- 1 (16 oz +) container of ricotta cheese (I use more) shopping list
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese shopping list
- 1 box manicotti noodles shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- I lb beef shopping list
- 2 jars of spaghetti sauce shopping list
- 1 package of fresh or thawed chopped spinach shopping list
- 1 cup diced onion shopping list
- 1/2 cup of feta cheese (optional) shopping list
- 1- 1 1/2 cups finely chopped cooked italian sausage (optional) shopping list
How to make it
- Cook Manicotti noodles as directed on package
- Drain and let noodles cool
- Warm spaghetti sauce in saucepan
- Fry beef and drain fat
- Add onion to pan and simmer on med-high while stirring for 3 minutes
- Add beef and onion to sauce
- In a large mixing bowl, add ricotta, spinach, egg, 2 cups of mozzarella, and parmesan cheese (optional- add feta and/or sausage for a different tasting manicotti)
- Use hands to combine ingredients
- Preheat oven to 350
- Seperate noodles on aluminum foil
- Split any noodles that didn't open up during cooking
- Lay each noodle flat and add cheese mixture from bowl onto the end of each noodle
- Now roll each noodle up so opening is on the bottom and cheese roll stays together
- Line the bottom of a large baking dish with 1/2 of meat sauce
- Place manicotti rolls in sauce
- Cover with remaining sauce
- Place aluminum foil over dish and place in pre-heated oven at 350 for 35 minutes
- Spread remaining Mozzarella cheese on the top and bake uncovered for an additional 4 minutes, or until cheese is golden and bubbly
