candied walnuts

- walnuts - cracked 100 grams shopping list
- 6 tsp. sugar shopping list
- 2 TBSP cold water shopping list
- 10 gr butter shopping list
- (i use the double amount for everything - the work is the same) shopping list
How to make it
- crack walnuts
- or open bag - whatever is easier
- pour sugar and water into saucepan - i use something called 'sauteuse' - it's easier to work with
- bring to boil. stirring continuously
- add walnuts
- keep cooking and stirring until all liquid is cooked off and walnuts are coated with 'dry sugar'
- reduce temperature
- stirring continuously until sugar starts dissolving
- it will now start going brown.
- be careful that mixture does not get too hot and burns
- add butter until nuts are caramelized,
- keep stirring
- turn walnuts onto baking paper or greased cooky sheet
- separate
- when cool, put into jar
- this will keep (theoretically) for a couple of weeks.
- mine never did
