Turkey Gravy Recipe
a little help on making gravy

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup of shortening or reserved drippings
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 qt milk or water or turkey or chicken broth
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions
  1. put the drippings in a large heavy skillet
  2. the skillet should be hot already
  3. heat till hot...using low heat
  4. add the flour very slowly, stirring constantly
  5. cook low heat till it turns brown...keep stiring
  6. start adding your liquid,,,,slowly and constantly stir
  7. untill thick,,
  8. when the flour and drippings are cookingyou can let this get light or dark brown in color BEFORE adding the milk, water or broth
  9. go slow and stir to incorporate so no lumps come.
  10. once all is combined, turn up heata little to a rolling boil
  11. and stir often for about 5 minutes, to cook the flour well
