Spaghetti With Texas Style Sauce Recipe
SPAGHETTI WITH TEXAS STYLE SAUCE This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Peyton Estate in Waxahachie, Texas in 1984.

Ingredients
  • 1 box spaghetti
  • 1 can stewed tomatoes
  • 3 medium onions
  • 8 strips bacon
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/2 pound grated American cheese

Directions
  1. Chop bacon into fine pieces and fry until quite crisp.
  2. Put in finely chopped onions and garlic then fry until quite brown.
  3. Drain off half the juice from the tomatoes then add them and remaining juice to sauce.
  4. Add chili powder, salt and pepper then boil spaghetti in salted water until soft.
  5. Butter a large platter and spread half of the spaghetti evenly on it.
  6. Cover this with half of the sauce and half of the grated cheese.
  7. Repeat with layers of the remaining spaghetti, sauce and cheese.
  8. Place platter in a warm oven and melt the cheese then serve.
