Korean Kalbi Shortribs

- 5 lbs thin cut tender short rib of beef, cross cut,about 1/2 inch thick. shopping list
- 2 cups soy sauce. (Aloha brand is the best if not you can use Yamasa or half and half of each). shopping list
- 2 cups white sugar shopping list
- 4 cloves garlic or 2 teas. of crushed garlic, either way you want it smashed or crushed. shopping list
- 1 inch piece of ginger grated or you can use 1 tea of powdered but the grated is so much better. shopping list
- 1 tea. sesame oil shopping list
- 1 teas of dry chili pepper flakes shopping list
- 1 cup chopped green onions shopping list
- 1 tbsp of sesame seeds if desired. shopping list
How to make it
- Place all ingredient into a marinating dish, a 9x13 glass pyrex pan is great and marinate for about 4 hours or over night.
- During marinating time, turn over pieces to make sure they are all coated.
- Pop them on the grill, making sure not to over cook them because the sugar will carmelized quickly. You want them tender and grilled just right about 3-5 mins on each size depending on thickness of ribs.
- We usually serve this with white rice, and some Korean bean sprout salad. The meat is usually placed on chopped cabbage for serving.
