How to make it

  • Thinly slice all of the onions, a food processor works great
  • dice garlic
  • sautee garlic and onions in fry pan on low heat to carmelize the onions
  • combine all items into a crock pot or stock pot
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • heat to boil then reduce and simmer
  • toaste some french bread under the broiler
  • put the soup in bowls
  • top with the toasted bread and cheese and broill again to melt cheeze
