How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 then grease a jelly roll pan.
  • In heavy saucepan heat chocolate over low heat until melted and smooth stirring frequently.
  • In large bowl with mixer at low speed beat sugar, syrup, vanilla and butter just until blended.
  • Increase speed to high then beat until light and fluffy.
  • Reduce speed to low then add flour, salt and eggs and beat until well mixed.
  • Increase speed to high and beat 2 minutes then at low speed blend in melted chocolate.
  • Stir in walnuts with wooden spoon the spread batter evenly in pan and bake 40 minutes.
  • Cool brownies in pan on wire rack.
  • Beat confectioners' sugar, milk, peppermint extract and 6 tablespoons butter until smooth.
  • Stir in enough green food coloring to tint then evenly spread frosting over cooled brownies.
  • Refrigerate while preparing glaze.
  • Heat glaze ingredients in heavy saucepan over low heat until chocolate melts and is smooth.
  • Stir frequently then remove from heat and stir frequently until glaze cools slightly.
  • Spread over frosting to completely cover top then refrigerate until glaze is set about 1 hour.
