How to make it

  • In large bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, nutmeg and salt; mix well. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until crumbly.
  • Add enough milk to beaten eggs to measure 1 cup. Stir into flour mixture. Stir in currants. Cover; chill for 1 hour.
  • Preheat griddle to 350°F. Lightly oil griddle.
  • On lightly floured surface, roll dough out to 1/4 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutter.
  • Cook on griddle 3 minutes per side or until golden.
