How to make it

  • Combine flour and salt then cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Sprinkle water over mixture and stir with fork then shape dough into ball.
  • Combine berries, sugar, flour and lemon juice and stir well then set aside.
  • Divide dough in half.
  • Roll half of dough to 1/8" thickness and place in lightly greased rectangular baking dish.
  • Spoon berry mixture over pastry and dot with butter.
  • Roll remaining half of dough to fit top of cobbler and place over berry mixture.
  • Make slits in dough or cut into strips and sprinkle with sugar.
  • Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
