Our Favorite Chocolate Cake Recipe

How to make it

  • Combine dry ingredients into large bowl and mix together
  • Pour all liquid ingredients into dry ingredients
  • Blend well with wooden spoon
  • Pour batter into 9x13 greased baking dish
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes
  • Cake is done when toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean
  • FROSTING
  • 1/2 stick room temperature unsalted butter
  • 1/8 teaspoon light brown sugar
  • 1 heaping teaspoon instant coffee
  • 1 teaspoon HOT water
  • 1 can vanilla frosting
  • Beat butter and brown sugar
  • DIssolve coffee in hot water and add to butter mixture
  • Beat in vanilla frosting with hand mixer
  • Spread frosting on cooled cake
