Spicy Cowboy Steaks Dated 1968 Recipe
SPICY COWBOY STEAKS DATED 1968 This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Smith Estate in Pasadena, Texas. Spicy and extremely good. Will make again.

Ingredients
  • 1-1/8 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup Creole seasoning
  • 4 T-bone steaks
  • 2 cups assorted mushrooms cut julienne
  • 1 cup white onions cut julienne
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 large onion prepared into rings about 1/8” thick
  • 1/4 cup Tabasco sauce
  • 1 cup flour
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper

Directions
  1. Preheat grill.
  2. In shallow bowl combine olive oil and Creole seasoning to make a paste.
  3. Smear each steak with rub covering entire steak completely.
  4. Marinate steaks for one hour then place steaks on grill and cook 3 minutes.
  5. Remove from grill and place each steak on a cedar plank.
  6. Toss mushrooms and onions with salt and pepper.
  7. Mound vegetables on top of each steak and place back on the grill.
  8. Cook steaks on plank 6 minutes.
  9. Toss onion rings in the Tabasco then dredge in flour.
  10. Fry onions for 3 minutes then remove from fryer and season with salt and pepper.
