Orange Lemon Pound Cake

- 1 cup butter, softened shopping list
- ¼ cup shortening shopping list
- 2 cups sugar shopping list
- 5 eggs, room temperature shopping list
- 3 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- ½ teaspoon salt shopping list
- ½ teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- ½ teaspoon baking powder shopping list
- 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla shopping list
- 1 teaspoon lemon extract shopping list
- 1 teaspoon orange extract shopping list
- Glaze: shopping list
- 2 teaspoons orange zest shopping list
- 2 teaspoons lemon zest shopping list
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice shopping list
- 1 cup powdered sugar shopping list
How to make it
- In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, shortening, and sugar until fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Sift together flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Add to butter mixture alternatively with buttermilk. Begin and end for flour mixture.
- Stir in extracts.
- Spoon batter into greased and floured 10" tube or bundt pan.
- Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.
- Cool in pan for 10 minutes the turn out onto wire rack with shallow pan underneath.
- Glaze:
- Combine ingredients. Stir until smooth. Prick warm cake with toothpick.
- Slowly pour glaze over cake until all of it is absorbed.
- Cool completely and serve with ice cream or whipped topping.
