How to make it

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, shortening, and sugar until fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Sift together flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Add to butter mixture alternatively with buttermilk. Begin and end for flour mixture.
  • Stir in extracts.
  • Spoon batter into greased and floured 10" tube or bundt pan.
  • Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.
  • Cool in pan for 10 minutes the turn out onto wire rack with shallow pan underneath.
  • Glaze:
  • Combine ingredients. Stir until smooth. Prick warm cake with toothpick.
  • Slowly pour glaze over cake until all of it is absorbed.
  • Cool completely and serve with ice cream or whipped topping.
