From donitakate 16 years agoIngredients
- cooking oil or lard shopping list
- 1-1/2 cup boxed biscuit mix shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. salt shopping list
- 3/8 cup cold water shopping list
- 1/3 cup plus one tbsp. sugar shopping list
- 2 tsp. cinnamon plus 1/2 tsp. cinnamon shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oil or lard (about 1-1/2 inches) to 375 degrees in a heavy skillet.
- Stir biscuit mix, salt, one Tbsp.sugar, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, and water with fork to a soft dough.
- In a paper bag, combine remaining sugar and cinnamon and set aside.
- Place dough on floured board and pat into rectangle three inches wide and one inch thick. Slice one-inch strips with floured knife and drop into hot fat.
- Fry until brown and puffy, about 30 seconds. The mullins should turn on their own, but if they do not, carefully nudge them over on their baks to brown both sides.
- Drain on paper towels. Shake mullins in bag with sugar and cinnamon to coat thoroughly.
- Enjoy!
