Ingredients
  • 1 Tbsp margarine
  • 1 medium-size yellow onion, diced
  • 2 Tbsp unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable brother (may be more depending on the thickness you want)
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce (you can also use tamari)
  • A dash of pepper, to taste

Directions
  1. Heat the margarine in a medium saucepan over medium heat
  2. Saute the onion for a few minutes, then add the flour and garlic powder and continue to saute for another 8 to 9 minutes.
  3. Dissolve the cornstarch in the broth.
  4. Gradually add the broth mixture into the onions and bring to a boil.
  5. Simmer for ten minutes.
  6. Strain gravy into a seperate saucepan, try to not get onions into the gravy, but it's okay if you get some.
  7. Add the soy sauce (or tamari) and the pepper.
  8. Simmer for another minute or two, stirring constantly.
