Turtle Bars Recipe
TURTLE BARS This recipe is one of many obtained from cookie exchanges I have held for the past eighteen years. It is from my friend Wanda Capps.

Ingredients
  • 14 ounce package caramels
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk divided
  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix with pudding
  • 1 cup pecans chopped
  • 3/4 cup margarine melted
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Directions
  1. Melt caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk in double boiler.
  2. Mix together cake mix, nuts, margarine and remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk.
  3. Pat 2/3 of dough into greased and floured rectangular pan.
  4. Bake in preheated 350 oven for 6 minutes then sprinkle chocolate chips over top.
  5. Drizzle melted caramel over chips then drop remaining dough by tablespoons over top.
  6. Continue baking 20 more minutes then cool completely and cut into squares.
