Amelita's is St. Petersburg's best kept secret. Amelita's features very inexpensive traditional Cuban cuisine. Some of their dishes are

Caldo Gallego - one of the best soups you'll ever eat. It's made with collard greens, northern beans, and potatoes; Jumbo Deviled Crabs; Bistec de Palomillo, which is a flavorful Spanish steak with onions; Picadillo, which is ground beef, olives, and capers in a tomato sauce; Papas Rellenas, a mashed potato ball filled with ground beef; Plantains; Tostadas; and more. And all of it tastes wonderful. All the recipes are the owner's grandmother's recipes.
