How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • In small saucepan melt butter then stir in flour, salt, pepper and dried basil.
  • Add milk all at once then cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly.
  • Cook and stir 1 minute more then remove from heat and stir in fresh basil.
  • Spray four individual baking dishes with nonstick coating.
  • Spoon 2 tablespoons basil sauce into each dish then break an egg into center of each dish.
  • Season with salt and pepper then spoon remaining sauce over eggs and bake 20 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with cheese and let stand until cheese melts then garnish with basil and serve.
