How to make it

  • preheat oven to 160C ( approx 325F )
  • grease and flour a round cake pan, 23 cm
  • Line with greased paper
  • melt chocolate in the microwave
  • Beat butter and sugar well
  • Gradually beat in the eggs
  • Blend in the chocolate and mix well
  • Gradually beat in water and dry ingredients into chocolate mixture
  • Place mixture in the prepared pan and smooth out evenly
  • Bake about 20 minutes or tested done in center
  • Cool 10 minutes and remove from the pan
  • Boil topping ingredients and pour over cake
  • Let cool completely
  • Then glaze cake and let glaze set
  • For glaze: Mix all glaze ingredients to make preferred consitency and pour over cake
  • Note: if desired, split cake, fill with marmalade rum topping and add other half of cake and pour glaze over top of cooled cake
