Cherry Vanilla Fudge Recipe
CHERRY VANILLA FUDGE This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Butler Estate in Wills Point, Texas in 1993.

Ingredients
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup light cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup candied cherries quartered

Directions
  1. Combine sugar, salt, cream, milk, corn syrup and butter in a large heavy saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until mixture comes to boiling.
  3. Continue cooking stirring occasionally until candy thermometer reaches soft ball stage.
  4. Remove from heat leaving thermometer in the saucepan then cool to 100 degrees.
  5. Add vanilla then beat briskly until fudge thickens and begins to lose its gloss.
  6. Stir in cherries then pour into buttered square pan and cool then cut into squares when firm.
