How to make it

  • Preheat oven as directed on cake mix
  • grease and flour whatever pan you are planning to use ( i used 2 9" cake pans and made it a double layered cake)
  • melt butter/margarine and pour into a medium sized bowl
  • add the cherry pie filling
  • pour in about 1/4 of the cake mix to the cherry pie stuff and stir it all together
  • pour remaining cake mix into your greased pan/pans and drop globs of the cherry mix all over then swirl it through with a knife, i swirled it pretty good, dont be afraid you will ruin it but you want that cherry stuff all over
  • bake as directed and let cakes cool after you take them out
  • for the frosting, in a bowl add cream cheese, butter, vanilla, and salt until smooth (dont use alot of salt but just a sprinkle)
  • while mixing add the powdered sugar gradually
  • now you can add your lime juice to taste, i didnt use quite the whole lime's worth of juice but i kept tasting it until it got the right flavor that i wanted and i added a little bit more powdered sugar after i got the lime flavor right to make up for adding a little more liquid
